BBJ Committees

BBJ’s organizational structure is simple and straight forward and is a reflection of the transient nature of its continuous membership turnover. Retired executives volunteer their support as executive and associate executive directors. Personal and career counselors, a consultant, and secretary also offer their services freely on an ongoing basis. The following gives a brief description of each of our committees:

Alumni | Arrangements | Computer | Entrepreneur| Interview | Membership | Networking | Public Relations/Marketing | Programs | Resources | Resume | Telephone | Crossroads Toastmasters | Mentor Resource Program

Alumni Committee - Creates a network of BBJ members who have successfully completed their job search and are currently employed. This committee is responsible for periodically updating the Alumni Network.

Arrangements Committee - Prepares the meeting room(s) prior to BBJ events and clears the area following the event.

Computer Committee - Responsible for monitoring and recommending all the hardware and software used by BBJ. The committee also provides training to BBJ members as requested.

Entrepreneur Committee - Brings people together to opening discuss alternative ways of producing income by owning their own business versus the  employment path they might have been pursuing.  We accomplish this by reflecting on individual needs, what each person is trying to accomplish in career-transition, and if self employment fits their needs.

Interview Committee - Assists BBJ members through Practice Interview training. These practice interviews enable the interviewee to improve their skills and become more comfortable with interviewing.

Membership Committee - Responsible for new member orientation, maintaining attendance records and the list of current members. Prepares computerized Membership Roster and New Member Report.

Networking Committee - Promotes networking activities among members, maintains and expands BBJ Brown Bag activities and works with Program Committee to educate members on networking skills.

Public Relations/Marketing Committee - Responsible for increasing awareness of BBJ in the business community through a variety of marketing activities.

Program Committee - Addresses the specific needs of the BBJ membership through a series of programs and speakers each week.

Resource Committee - Maintains current publications, i.e. The Wall Street Journal, St. Louis Business Journal, etc., and job search materials. Also collects industry specific periodicals no longer needed by members.

Resume Committee - Provides a review and critique of member's resumes, and cover letters.

Telephone Committee - Oversees the staffing of the BBJ office during normal business hours.
