Practice Interviews



   The BBJ interview committee offers the opportunity for a member to
   develop and
hone his or her interviewing skills without the risk of
   losing a job offer.

 

 

  • Practice Interview Committee Chair: Neil Glaser (636-391-0279) nglaser@att.net
  • Practice interviews are conducted immediately following the main speaker presentation at BBJs Monday morning meetings in either a one-on-one or a two-on-one format
  • These practice interviews can be video taped for easier critiquing.

The purpose of the practice interview is the following:

  • Development and maintenance of communication skills.
  • No-risk practice and observance of the interview process prior to the interview that counts.
  • Improvement of your self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Development of your own answers to the various questions you must expect from an interview.
  • Reduction of the fear and intimidation factor that is sometimes associated with that interview which is most important in your life.

Persons wishing to interview must sign up via the interviewing clipboard a week before their interview. The clipboard is attached to the clothesline on the wall in the main meeting room. If you require a two-on-one interview or a videotaping of your interview, please indicate this on the clipboard sign up sheet.

Interviewers use the 50 Tough Interview Questions (see PDF file titled Interview Guide found on Job Search Resources page. Click on the Resources tab under Member Services) and also in your BBJ green book as a basis for their role in the interview. Please work on responses to those questions prior to your interview. The interviewer will take notes during the interview and pass on those notes to you with the 50 sensitive questions and their suggested responses at the conclusion of your interview.
