Organizational Structure / Committees

BBJ’s organizational structure is simple and straightforward and is a reflection of the transient nature of its continuous membership turnover. Retired executives volunteer their support as executive and associate executive directors. Personal and career counselors, a consultant, and secretary also offer their services freely on an ongoing basis. The following gives a brief description of each of our committees:

Alumni Committee - Creates a network of BBJ members who have successully completed their job search and are currently employed. This committee is responsible for periodically updating the Alumni Network.

Arrangements Committee - Prepares the meeting room(s) prior to BBJ events and clears the area following the event.

Computer Committee - Responsible for monitoring and recommending all the hardware and software used by BBJ. The committee also provides training to BBJ members as requested.

Interview Committee - Assists BBJ members through Mock Interview training. These mock interviews enable the interviewee to improve their skills and become more comfortable with interviewing.

Mailing Committee - Maintains the mailing list and is responsible for printing the Mini-Resumes.

Membership Committee - Responsible for new member orientation, maintaining attendance records and the list of current members. Prepares computerized Membership Roster and New Member Report.

Public Relations/Marketing Committee - Responsible for increasing awareness of BBJ in the business community through a variety of marketing activities.

Program Committee - Addresses the specific needs of the BBJ membership through a series of programs and speakers each week.

Resource Committee - Maintains current publications, i.e. The Wall Street Journal, St. Louis Business Journal, etc., and job search materials. Also collects industry specific periodicals no longer needed by members.

Resume Committee - Provides a review and critique of member's resumes, Mini-Resumes and cover letters.

Telecommunications Committee - Oversees the staffing of the BBJ office during normal business hours.
