Mock
Interviews

The BBJ interview committee
offers the opportunity for a member to develop and hone his or her interviewing
skills without the risk of losing a job offer.
- Mock interviews are
conducted immediately following the main speaker presentation
at BBJs Monday morning meetings in either a one-on-one or a
two-on-one format
- These mock interviews
can be video taped for easier critiquing.
The purpose of the mock
interview is the following:
- Development and maintenance
of communication skills.
- No-risk practice
and observance of the interview process prior to the interview
that counts.
- Improvement of your
self-confidence and self-esteem.
- Development of your
own answers to the various questions you must expect from an interview.
- Reduction of the fear
and intimidation factor that is sometimes associated with that
interview which is most important in your life.
Persons wishing to interview
must sign up via the interviewing clipboard a week before their
interview. The clipboard is attached to the clothesline on the wall
in the main meeting room. If you require a two-on-one interview
or a videotaping of your interview, please indicate this on the
clipboard sign up sheet.
Interviewers use the
50 sensitive questions
(PDF) listed in your BBJ green book
as a basis for their role in the interview. Please work on responses
to those questions prior to your interview. The interviewer will
take notes during the interview and pass on those notes to you with
the 50 sensitive questions and their suggested responses at the
conclusion of your interview. An effort will be made to assign an
interviewer acquainted with your profession to further enhance the
mock interviewing experience.
